| dc.description | Excitation spectra are presented for KCl and KCl:Tl at room temperature and at -160°C over a range of energies from 4.5 to 10.5 eV covering regions of impurity, exciton and `band to band' excitation. A possible exciton level at 7.4 eV is indicated from the excitation spectra. At 8.0 eV a luminescence independent of activator concentration may be due to energy transfer by excitons. A new excitation peak at 6.7 eV is observed in thallium activated crystals grown in air. |
