Results are reported for the electrical conductivity of natural and synthetic single crystals of alpha ferric oxide between 20°C and 1300°C. The effect of firing temperature is consistent with the introduction of carriers by oxygen loss. Comparison with data for polycrystalline material indicates that the presence of grain boundaries does not significantly affect carrier mobility. |
