| dc.description | Titanium and zirconium may be sealed to standard sealing glasses without the need for any special sealing techniques, to give strong vacuum-tight seals with low stresses in the glass. If a flame-sealing method is used it is necessary to keep the sealing time as brief as possible, since the expansion characteristics of both metals change appreciably on prolonged heating in air. |
