The circuit employs two valves and has a useful dynamic range of approximately three decades. Valve tolerances are accommodated by a simple setting procedure and the output is indicated on a robust meter. The circuit may be used either as a logarithmic photometer or, in conjunction with a light source, as a densitometer.
