| dc.description | The dynamic Young's modulus of elasticity E of solids can conveniently be determined from the fundamental transverse frequency of bars. This article describes a very simple device, consisting of a calibrated adjustable Helmholtz resonator, the resonance of which can be observed by means of a stethoscope, for measuring the natural transverse frequency of a rod struck with a small hammer. |
