A simple piece of apparatus which may be connected to most types of water penetration tester is described. Penetration is detected by the consequent fall in electrical resistance, measured through the specimen, and continuous contact with the specimen is not required for satisfactory operation. The number of flexing cycles for each specimen (three in the apparatus built) is counted independently, the counter stopping when penetration has occurred.
