dc.description An apparatus is described for the measurement of Young's modulus and the internal friction of metals in the kilocycle per second range. Measurements can be carried out in the temperature range from 100 to 430°K. The apparatus is based on a device recently described. Modifications consist mainly in an improved clamping device and in the addition of a simple electronic circuit for evaluating the internal friction. An electronic counter is used to determine the resonance frequency.
