| dc.description | A simple device has been constructed which permits measurement of mechanical hysteresis in vertically suspended surface films of adsorbed proteins or synthetic detergents. In addition, the apparatus can be employed in stress relaxation experiments which provide estimates of the viscoelastic properties of the films. |
