A sensitive thin film thermometer has been developed which can measure local transient surface temperatures without appreciably affecting flow of heat or fluid in the vicinity. By means of techniques used in microminiaturization, the thermometers can be deposited at close spacings. This note describes the manufacture of such instruments and discusses their sensitivity, frequency response and reliability.
