A novel iterative device is described which is particularly relevant to the study of one-dimensional heat flow subject to various boundary conditions. The iteration process is the counterpart to a standard pencil and paper procedure, but is both quicker and freer from cumulative errors. It can accommodate limited changes in the thermal parameters both in location and time, and in principle the system can be adapted to an electrical model.
