| dc.description | A rheometer for measuring the dynamic viscoelastic behaviour of soft solids is described. The sample is sinusoidally sheared in the axial direction in the annular spacing between two concentric cylinders, and the components of the complex shear modulus for various frequencies (0 to 200 c/s) are found by following the applied force and resultant displacement of the inner cylinder as functions of time. Apparatus constants, transducer requirements and inertial contributions are discussed. |
