This paper describes a meter for the measurement of the small direct currents generated by the flame ionization detectors used in gas chromatography. It has six-linear ranges with full scale deflections of 0.1 nA - 10 μA, a logarithmic range of 0.1 nA - 10 μA, and three integrating ranges.The circuit uses semiconductor devices almost entirely, and shows good linearity and low drift. The instrument is operated on 230 v a.c. mains. The circuit employed has a low input impedance, giving the advantages of low electrostatic pick-up and reduced noise from coupling cables.
