An automatic digitization system has been built for use with a scanning spectrometer. It is based on the use of photoelectron counting and as a result has the advantage of allowing automatic compensation of the recorded spectrum for variations in the overall light level. Numerous other useful facilities have been incorporated in the system to provide flexibility and convenience of operation. Difficulties encountered with wavelength reproducibility of the spectrometer have been overcome by using a multiple exit slit.
