A description is given of a metal cryogenic system which can be used for optical measurements in the temperature range 2-300°K. Its features included sapphire windows and a rotatable sample holder which enables as many as eight samples to be measured during one run. The application of the system for photoluminescence and reflectivity measurements of III-V compounds is discussed.
