For the one-dimensional gas dynamical combustion model, we prove that the strong detonation (SDT) travelling waves are nonlinearly stable in the sense that if the initial data is a suitably small perturbation of the SDT travelling wave, when , the solution will converge to the SDT in norm. To obtain the above result we assume that the strength of the SDT be suitably small.
