| dc.description | In the first part of this paper sufficient conditions are stated for a cascade of period doubling bifurcations in n dimensions to be reducible to a perturbation of a map in the interval with critical points. In the second part we show that the example of a cascade in the n-dimensional disk, given by Gambaudo and Tresser, can be approximated by maps exhibiting homoclinic tangencies. |
