Measurement requirements for the purpose of hazard assessment of optical radiation from non-laser sources are presented. Established criteria to limit overexposure to optical radiation in occupational environments are summarised as a function of the spectral ranges defining important photobiological effects. An example of the method of hazard assessment across the relevant spectral ranges is presented.
