ICRU has recently published Report 47 in which individual dose equivalent, penetrating, and individual dose equivalent, superficial, are replaced by the Personal Dose Equivalent, which is defined in the following way. `The personal dose equivalent, Hp(d), is the dose equivalent in soft tissue below a specified point on the body at an appropriate depth, d.' Essentially this does not involve a change in the definition of the quantities, but simplifies nomenclature. ICRU now recommends within the UK the use of Personal Dose Equivalent to replace Individual Dose Equivalents, penetrating and superficial. |
