Using a superconducting target, precursor films were fabricated on (001) substrates by pulsed laser ablation. After annealing at for 30 min in a controlled Hg atmosphere, the films became superconducting and exhibited a highly c-axis oriented Hg-1212 phase. The as-synthesized Hg-1212 films showed a zero resistance at around 112 K with a critical current density of at 77 K.
