Laser ablated YBCO films on buffer layers of YSZ and SrTiO<sub>3</sub> deposited on sapphire and MgO substrates

Thin films of YBa<sub>2</sub>Cu<sub>3</sub>O<sub>7-x</sub> (YBCO) were deposited by laser ablation on substrates of sapphire and MgO coated with buffer layers of YSZ(Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> stabilized ZrO<sub>2</sub>) and SrTiO<sub>3</sub> deposited by both OMCVD, organometallic chemical vapor deposition, and laser ablation. The Tc(R=O) of YBCO on YSZ was 91 K and on SrTiO<sub>3</sub> was 93 K. The Jc at 77 K were 5*10<sup>3</sup> and 5*10<sup>6</sup> A/cm<sup>2</sup> for YSZ and SrTiO<sub>3</sub> buffer layers respectively.
