La2CuO4 after electrochemical oxidation in 1N NaOH solution shows resistivity and diamagnetic transitions respectively at 36 K and at 35 K, confirming the recent observations of Wattiaux et al. (1990). Hall data show the presence of holes as in the case of Sr- or Ba-substituted La2CuO4 superconductors. A similar treatment of the superconductor (Tc=35 K) La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 did not alter the Tc.
