The authors examine the long-range distortion induced by a hole in an antiferromagnet, first found by Shraiman and Siggia (1988). They introduce a novel set of variables to treat the long-wavelength properties of an antiferromagnet. It is shown that if a static hole causes a short range ferromagnetic distortion, then the dynamical distortion follows immediately from the equations of motion of the spin system. Moreover, they show explicitly that a weakly coupled particle induces such an effect perturbatively.
