We investigate numerically the effective force between charged colloidal particles in an aqueous solution. By Monte Carlo simulation using the primitive model of strongly asymmetric electrolytes, we show that a pair of colloidal particles under geometrical confinements develop an attraction for strong electrostatic coupling. We also confirm that such attraction vanishes for high salt content. These features explain well the recent experiments on polystyrene latex particles. |
