Using a variational method the authors have obtained the binding energy and equilibrium distance of a two-dimensional hydrogen molecule (HM), these being much larger and shorter than those of a three-dimensional HM. It is shown that the dimensionality effect on exciton molecules is as important as that of the electron-to-hole ratio of effective masses.
