Anomalous magnetic properties of Pr ions in Pr<sub>x</sub>R<sub>1-x</sub>Co<sub>5</sub> (R identical to Y,Sm)

The magnetic hyperfine fields of Pr ions in PrCo<sub>5</sub> are measured by spin-echo NMR at 4.2 K. The magnetic properties for the Pr<sub>x</sub>Y<sub>1-x</sub>Co<sub>5</sub>, Pr<sub>x</sub>Sm<sub>1-x</sub>Co<sub>5</sub> and Dy<sub>x</sub>Sm<sub>1-x</sub>Co<sub>5+0.2x</sub> compounds are analysed on the basis of the single-ion model under the assumption that rare-earth ions are triply ionized. The magnetic moment and the hyperfine fields for Pr ions in PrCo<sub>5</sub> are calculated to be much larger than those observed in experiments, while good agreement is observed for Sm and Dy ions in SmCo<sub>5</sub> and DyCo<sub>5.2</sub>, respectively.
