Specific-heat measurements have been performed on polycrystalline R<sub>2</sub>Zn<sub>17</sub> compounds (R identical to Pr, Nd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er and Y) in the temperature range from 0.3 to 150 K. For all the compounds, except for R identical to Y, magnetic anomalies in the specific heat have been observed, indicating the existence of magnetic order at low temperatures.
