An effective-medium theory is developed for a composite medium consisting of nonlinear coated spherical grains embedded in a linear host. By means of a field-dependent T-matrix approach, exact expressions for the effective permittivity and nonlinear susceptibilities of the composite medium with coated spherical grains is obtained.
