Identification of transitions in <sup>73</sup>Kr and the search for large oblate deformation

The gamma transitions in <sup>73</sup>Kr have been identified for the first time by tagging the gamma rays with reaction products of mass 73 and neutrons produced in the reaction <sup>40</sup>Ca (95 MeV <sup>35</sup>Cl, pn) <sup>73</sup>Kr. A gamma-gamma coincidence experiment was performed at Oak Ridge with a Compton suppressor array which utilises 20 Ge detectors equipped with Compton suppressors. Transitions in <sup>73</sup>Kr have been placed into two bands. Several other transitions also are identified in <sup>73</sup>Kr but not placed into the level scheme.
