The 129Xe( gamma , gamma ')129mXe and 131Xe( gamma , gamma ')131mXe reactions have been studied by irradiation in a facility containing a 7.4 PBq (200 kCi) 60Co source. The 129mXe and 131mXe isomers have been identified and the isomeric activities have been compared with that of indium irradiated under similar conditions. The integral cross sections for 129mXe and 131mXe production have been determined relative to the known value of 115mIn and found to be (7.5+or-2.0)*10-26 and (2.5+or-0.8)*10-26 cm2 eV, respectively, by adopting (19+or-1)*10-26 cm2 eV for 115mIn production.
