A search has been performed for large cluster breakup from <sup>40</sup>Ca following inelastic scattering. No evidence is seen for breakup to the <sup>12</sup>C+<sup>28</sup>Si, <sup>16</sup>O+<sup>24</sup>Mg or <sup>20</sup>Ne+<sup>20</sup>Ne channels.
