The ground state properties of proton and neutron rich nuclei in the vicinity of <sup>100</sup>Sn are investigated by the relativistic mean field theory with the NL-SH interaction. The numerical results are compared with experimental data and those given by other models. It turns out that the relativistic mean field theory with a proper interaction describes the nuclei near the proton and the neutron drip line successfully.
