A 500 kV fast pulse generator has been constructed using coaxial cable in a stacked-Blumlein arrangement. The generator design is relatively simple, being easy to construct and inexpensive. The output pulse from the generator rises in less than ten nanoseconds and is suitable for low power applications such as HV testing of small-capacitance loads, trigger generators with low jitter and X-ray generator power supplies.
