A possible deviation from expected transition intensities in lighter ions of the aluminum-like isoelectronic sequence has been observed by Engström et al. [Physica Scripta 39, 66 (1989)] using the beam-foil method. It is shown that some independent information on this question may be obtained from observed solar spectra, using an analysis of lines from common upper levels which takes account of the optical thickness of the solar source. |
