Optical resonators and filters for the light waves of whispering gallery modes based on tapered fibres with periodical changes in the diameter and/or the refraction index along its length are considered. The dependence of the quality factor of optical resonators on the parameters of the fibre is obtained. The possibility of using a travelling acoustic wave propagating along the tapered fibre as well as other means for producing bandgap structures is analysed. |
