dc.description Behavioral geneticists have so far identified few, if any, genes that control specific behaviors in higher species like mammals. But a research team at Harvard Medical School has now come up with a good candidate: the fosB gene, which their work suggests is needed for normal nurturing behavior in mice. When the gene is inactivated, mother mice neglect their pups.
