Since the mid-nineteenth century, women have been concerned about and have had an impact on social legislation related to alcoholism. This article describes the activities of women in the anti-alcohol movement and explores the concept that women organize in a way that focuses the public's attention on social problems that involve the use and abuse of alcohol.
