Utilisation de la méthode de capture-recapture pour estimer et décrire des populations clandestines: application à l'étude de prostituées de Glasgow. Le but de l'étude est d'estimer l'effectif de la population des prostituées de Glasgow et ainsi, en utilisant les données recueillies sur le taux de séropositivité, d'estimer le degré d'extension et le risque d'exposition au SIDA dans la population considérée. Organisation: des interviews de rue sont réalisés en utilisant un schéma d'entretien non-directif pendant 53 nuits réparties sur une durée de 7 mots. Un identificateur unique (réalisé à partir des initiales et de la date de naissance) est obtenu de chaque femme chaque fois qu'elle est observée travaillant. Un échantillon de salive fournie par la femme est analysé pour détecter la présence d'anticorps. Lieu de passation: les principales rues "chaudes" de l'agglomération de Glasgow (Ecosse). Participants: 206 prostituées travaillant dans la rue: des échantillons de salive furent demandés à 197 d'entre elles (96%) et 159 (81%) en fournirent. Principaux résultats: un taux de séropositivité de 2,5% (au seuil de confiance de 95%: 0,7% - 6,3% pour N=159) peut être associé à une estimation de la taille de la population sur 12 mois de 1147 ce qui permet d'estimer à 29 le nombre de femmes séropositives travaillant dans les rues de Glasgow sur une période d'un an. Cette population peut être subdivisée en un groupe de 30 "permanentes" et un groupe plus important qui peut cesser le travail et être remplacé en nombre égal au taux approximatlf de 19 par semaine. Conclusions: il est possible, non seulement d'estimer l'effectif d'une population clandestine mais aussi, par le recueil et l'analyse de données longitudinales, d'identifier des sous-groupes dont le comportement diffère du reste de la population. |
