| dc.description | Hispanic populations traditionally have underused mental health services, and those who have made use of these services tend to drop out at a higher rate than Anglos. One reason may be that theirexpectations of counselors and the counseling pmcess have not been met. Research has indicated that ethnicity is related to counseling expectancies, but little research has examined the expectancies of Hispanic populations, perhaps because many traditional research questionnaires are written in English. Two studies conducted in the development and validation of a Spanish version of the Expectations About Counseling questionnaire are described. Results indicate that this Spanish version is a viable and potentially useful tool for exanining counseling expectancies with a variety of Hispanic populations. |
