| dc.description | A vast amount of archives were created in the course of the political and constitutional upheavals which culminated in the independence of Zimbabwe in 1980. The National Archives of Zimbabwe Act of 1986 gives the Archives the opportunity to play an important part in national development, including education, the preservation of the country's cultural heritage and providing information for planning and decision-making. The value of colonial archives is notable in this respect. |
