I visited Arkwright Primary school in order to look at school improvement from the point of view of a teacher with a responsibility post other than the head. I was advised to talk with Brenda Thomas, primarily because she was singled out as having successfully led the implemention of 'Success for All' in the space of two terms. The task of 'Success for All' is to improve pupil learning, initially through literacy. Brenda has trained 20 volunteers from a local firm as reading tutors - a veritable literary army.
