I am a Head of Department in a large urban secondary school which is trying hard to improve student achievement. One of our departmental colleagues is highly regarded by parents for work in the community. Unfortunately, he does not mark his books regularly and his classes obtain poor GCSE grades. These matters have come up in a general way at departmental meetings but he doesn't respond. What should I do next?
