A futurist look into sport in the year 2050 developed into an interesting view of today's sport programs for children, highlighting its abuses and strengths. The development of a Youth Enhancement Program of Physical Activities (YEPPA) program by sport sociology classes is reviewed. The paper outlines the structure of society in the year 2000 and then gives examples of strategies that were developed to not only meet the needs of the new society, but to avoid the pitfalls of the former "win at all cost" society. Particular em phasis was given to the establishment of the YEPPA program, the selection and prepara tion of the coaches and participants, and the restructuring of the award system. |
