| dc.description | Two points come across rather clearly from the research of the past, which, if remedied, could improve the results presented in the future. One is a lack of knowledge or disregard by some researchers of the findings of previous relevant research, usually that done by people in other disciplines. The other is the absence of an appropriate theoretical orientation in many of the studies. Some researchers appear to be unconcerned by this deficiency; others decry the fact that they do not find theories suitable to their endeavors. Perhaps one of the greatest challenges of research on migration of the elderly is the design of studies that can contribute to theory development while at the same time providing research results that are timely, interesting, and useful. |
