| dc.description | Older adults are generally perceived as more psychologically distressed and/or depressed than younger adults. The validity of this perception is examined by (1) reviewing epidemiological studies and (2) presenting data from a recent mental health survey of elders. The findings from both sources provide a strong challenge to this widespread perception about aging and distress. |
