Direct standardisation is a method that is commonly employed for the statistical removal of confounding bias in the comparison of occurrence rates. The procedure is useful in clinical and epidemiological research. This paper presents a microcomputer program written in BASIC for the significance testing of the difference between statistically adjusted rates obtained by the direct standardisation method.
