| dc.description | The present study examines the relationship between violence exposure and (a) experimentation with cigarettes and alcohol, (b) intentions to use cigarettes and alcohol, (c) health locus of control, and (d) health values. Findings based on a sample of inner city youth indicate intentions to smoke cigarettes was positively correlated with greater exposure to violence. Internal and Powerful Others Health Locus of Control scales were negatively correlated with exposure to family and community violence. |
