The Society for Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics (London) is establishing a biennial prestige lecture series in honor of two pioneering British scientific seismologists, Robert Mallet (1810‐1883) and John Milne (1850‐1913). The society is the British section of the International Association for Earthquake Engineering. The first Mallet‐Milne Lecture is scheduled to be delivered by N. N. Ambraseys of the Department of Civil Engineering of the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, on May 27, 1987.
