Аннотация:
Van Fossen et al. [1986] interpret discordant paleomagnetic directions from the eastern and western limbs of the Watchung Syncline to suggest complex strain near the Border Fault. If a case can be made that there is a 10 my age difference between the eastern and western limb magnetizations, and the western limb magnetization has not been thermally reset by the Preakness Basalt, then apparent polar wander during the Triassic/Jurassic can be used to explain the discordance. The western limb magnetization may record the sharp cusp predicted by the PEP model of Gordon et al. [1984] and date it to be mid‐Hettangian in age.
