dc.description Two‐day melt of a late lying snow patch in a small opening in Colorado subalpine forest was largely due to net radiation and sensible heat exchange. Net radiation supplied 54 and 62% of melt energy on June 19 and 20, 1968, respectively, whereas sensible heat exchange accounted for 49 and 41% of melt energy. Three percent of melt energy was lost by evaporation each day.
