The modification of a flood hydrograph in a uniformly wide river reach with no downstream control that takes into account the effect of pseudoviscosity terms has been studied graphically by using the method of characteristics as discussed by Abbott. The routed profiles in the ux, hx, ut, and ht planes indicate the usual reduction in peak height and velocity with distance, and the stage discharge curve shows the familiar loop pattern.
